About the Band

We formed in the fall of 2000 and started learning our instruments as we went. Three friends who decided that not knowing how to play was no reason not to start a band — and honestly, that attitude is pretty much what RockStar Betties is all about.

We are Wendy Christian (vocals and guitar), Tiffany Gresh (bass), and Alysson Russell (drums), based out of Utah.

Our Songs

We have four original songs that we've performed live and are working on several more for future gigs:

• "Complete" — written by Wendy. A melodic rock track about finding your footing.
• "Am I Free" — a full-band collaboration. Driving rhythm with a big chorus.
• "Just Tell Me" — written by Tiffany. Punchy bass-forward groove with attitude.
• "Wrong Boy" — written by Alyee. Upbeat and sarcastic in the best possible way.

Influences

We all come from different musical corners, which is part of what makes the sound interesting. Wendy grew up on the Indigo Girls and Billy Joel — strong songwriting and honest lyrics. Tiffany leans toward Beck, the Beastie Boys, Bjork, Radiohead, and A Tribe Called Quest — she brings the weird and the groove in equal measure. Alyee's into No Doubt, Ani DiFranco, and the Dixie Chicks — all strong women who do things their own way, which fits perfectly.

The Name

RockStar Betties. We liked how it sounded — confident, a little tongue-in-cheek, and 100% us. "Betties" as in a crew of girls who show up and make noise. No apologies.
